  1. I can’t stop laughing at your poll questions. 😀 Happy Friday, Piper! Fab post, as always.

  2. K.B. Owen says:

OMG, Piper! I love how the teacher goes right back to the lesson without missing a beat. Priceless! By the way, thanks so much for the linky-love! 😀

  3. Great blog post, link line up and videos! Dying laughing over the WWIII kickstarter! You do have good stuff. LOLOL

  4. Oh my! Funny videos. I especially like that WWIII one. And selling, + pregnancy tests? What a world we live in.

Great links as always, Piper. Thanks!

I know. I’m torn between being appalled and wishing I had taken the opportunity to sell my own now that my son is in college. What a great start to a tuition fund that would have been.

  5. I could not believe it when I heard about the pregnancy tests. For the love of God, what next?????? I also loved Jenny’s porn map! Have a great weekend! 🙂

  6. Catherine Johnson says:

    #Thankyou Piper! Too funny.

Where can I hook up to Kickstarter? Thanks for brightening my Friday.

  8. Wow…there are no words to say the deep disturbances in my mind thanks to the positive pregnancy test thing. They’re right…seriously bad karma. What is wrong with people that it even enters their minds to sell them?

Kudos to all the folks you featured, too. The Porn map was a blast!

  9. You have GOT to be kidding me??!!??!! I love your Friday posts…

  10. Amy Shojai says:

*snert* Dang, glad I didn’t have beverage or would have had to charge you for the laptop clean up!

  11. Siri Paulson says:

Thanks for the shout-out, Piper! About the used pregnancy tests…I’m speechless! But thanks for the reminder from Bob Mayer. One can never be too prepared. (Well, I guess one *could*…but that’s a whole ‘nother problem, and not anywhere near as common!)

  12. Loved the post and the sardonic humour thread that runs throughout. To be able to move from positive pregnancy test results to WW III is incredible!

So as you look at these evolving trends in the world, how does the future occur to you?

    Shakti

    • Piper Bayard says:

What occurs to me most profoundly is that the future is not my future. I am living my future now. Many trends are terrifying to me, particularly when I see society tossing off things I value highly–freedom, family, integrity, responsibility, privacy–to replace them with government dependence and group think. I never cease to be shocked at the ruthlessness and complete lack of loyalty of our own political and corporate “leaders.” I worry for my children, because the future I see is theirs, not mine, and I won’t be here to protect them.

But then I recall the darkness of the past–various massacres, totalitarian societies, and ruthless, narcissistic “leaders”–and I realize that everything that has ever happened or will happen is happening somewhere now–both the good and the bad. So while my future is now, and my children’s future appears positively freakish and terrifying to me, there is nothing new in it. Only a new expression of what simply is. Evolving trends are Life shuffling the deck, but the cards remain the same. It is for each of us to choose how we will play them. As for me, I choose to find the humor.

I like your blog. As a dancer, I’m particularly drawn to Key Number Three. 🙂

No one should ever purchase a pregnancy test from Craigslist. pregnancy test kits are cheap and easily available.
