The End is Near (and we deserve it) . . . $24k Guinea Pig Armor

Now, there’s a First World Problem for you. “I need armor for my guinea pig!”

Meet Lucky. Lucky passed away, and his pet human put his suit of armor up for sale on ebay on behalf of a Virginia non-profit, Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue. The bidding at the time of publication had reached $24,300, with 156 bidders throwing their names in the pot. Deepest condolences to Lucky’s pet human. This little guy seems like he was a really cool companion.

Majority of Americans Don’t Trust Newspapers and Television News. Apparently, only 23% of us still trust what the news corporations tell us. One question comes to mind . . . There are seriously still 23%?

In case you missed it, the damning evidence about how the government is using our taxes to illegally spy on us keeps rolling out. Now, The Guardian has released two documents signed by Eric Holder — the guy who says no one is spying on Americans — that say it’s okay to use PRISM to spy on Americans. Apparently, he missed the class in law school about how it’s not legal just because we say it is. Revealed: The Top Secret Rules that Allow NSA to use US Data Without a Warrant

RIP, Lucky. He was a cute little guy.

  2. Awwwww! Lucky reminds me of Lola and Coco. Our beloved armor-less g pigs!! Coco was killed by my 5 year old (then) nephew who squeezed her too tightly and dropped her on the driveway (God rest her soul) and Lola (Coco’s mama) died of natural causes a couple of years later. Perhaps if Coco had an armor suit, she would have been saved! Darn it!!! 🙂

As an artist, that really pisses me off that the NSA ripped off that artwork. I have to say that I suspected as much. I worked as an illustrator for the VA and at one time they were thinking about updating their logo. I submitted a few ideas, but nothing ever came of it. Too much red tape! I hope that guy’s dad sues!!!!
Now that I can comment again, I will enter the contest!

    • Piper Bayard says:

I hope he sues, too. Is that insult to injury, or what? First, the NSA spies on us along with everyone else, and then they steal from what they collect.

I look forward to your entry. Thank you for your support! 🙂

The video explains a lot. Like how a full grown adult cat can get out of a second floor bedroom. (It was mine and he somehow levered the screen, from there to the patio roof, to an oak to the ground) I caught him one night on a bathroom run. He was rather proud of himself.

    • Piper Bayard says:

Aren’t those animals amazing? I was particularly impressed by the dog climbing the tree/fence setup. Wow! Too bad you didn’t have a video of your cat to add to it. Sounds like he belongs in their class.

  5. Thanks for the mention, Piper 🙂

I guess it’s inevitable that the NSA nicked the logo, after all they had access to the data. Depending on your point of view, it’s either a good job or a shame that they didn’t pick the Dark Side of the Moon logo. I’m sure they would have been hauled through the courts then 🙂

    • Piper Bayard says:

That would have been perfect, wouldn’t it? And it would have been amusing to see them try and defend it. No doubt, there would be a document signed by Holder justifying why it was okay. 🙂

  6. Guinea pig armor may be the next human fashion trend, Piper! Look what you’ve started. 🙂 Thanks so much for the shout out. Your End is Near series is so awesome!

  7. Belly laughs and a contest with Bacon – what a lucky friday! (will head over there)
Who are the 23% and would someone please let them out of that padded room?
Found reading the Guardian and other outside sources have been more informative recently – now that’s really really sad- and scary.
They seem to be stealing everything…seriously from an artist? They never have any money and you are stealing from them? Must be another aspect of that “share the wealth/talent/creativity” since one has so much and others don’t have any?

  8. Like August says…this could set a trend! There are people in my area who wear the stuff for real – medieval revivalists who stage knightly fights at ye olde revival fairs. Very, very carefully, I might add. The guy in charge taught me martial arts, years ago..

    I bought Firelands yesterday. Cool!

  9. Thank you so much for the mention, my friend!!! Lucky looks both brave and noble…LOL

  10. […] as sackcloth, stars falling to earth and weird locust creatures gussied up in armor (kind of like this guinea pig but way […]

  11. All I could think of when I saw the guinea pig was the movie “G Force” and the guinea pig saying “poop in his hand, poop in his hand!” 😀
