The End is Near (and we deserve it). . . . The Queen’s Used Knickers Net $18k on eBay

PANTY FAN PAYS $18k FOR QUEEN ELIZABETH II’S USED KNICKERS ON EBAY

Apparently, Queen Elizabeth left these used knickers on a private airplane when she was visiting Chile in 1968. I’m not even going to speculate on that one.

The brilliant Donna Newton, best DFW Writers Conference roommate ever, got some great pictures and video. I was most impressed with her shooting. She has a video of her second time out. Second time in her whole life, that is. (She lives in the UK. They don’t trust their citizens with guns over there so responsible adults have to come to the US to be treated like responsible adults. Yes. That was a gun control dig.) Anyway, Donna earned the nickname Kickass when I took her shooting. She was at 15 yards from the big jug at the beginning and about 20 yards from the can at the end. These are shots most people can’t make with a pistol without some practice, and many can’t make ever. Donna Newton’s How to Hook an Agent….The ‘SOO’ Publishing Way.

  1. I have two things to say to the doof who bought Liz’s knickers—Eww, and GET A FOSTER CHILD.

Wish I could have gone to the DFW and met all you fine people! Glad you had a shoot-em-up good time 🙂

Maybe the Queen Mum’s trying to help out with the budget crisis. Maybe Prince Phillip’s truss will be up next. My Ew factor has been lowered because I spent altogether too much time with Old Farts Trying to Relive Their Youth.

  3. Great picture of you ladies! Looks like you had a lot of fun..:) Also, thank you for the slinky video. It’s taken first place as the best thing I’ve seen all day.

  4. Did you even know what knickers were before Donna explained it to us? I thought they were pants golfers used to wear back in the thirties.

  5. amyshojai says:

Dang, that slinky is mesmerizing…yes, I have no life. Wish I coulda been at the con, sounds like a blast!

  6. Jenny Hansen says:

You know I love all things “undies”…but I agree with Angela! That’s $18K that could’ve been put to better use.

  7. Jess Witkins says:

LOL I just heard this on the radio. I can’t believe it. I bet the queen is delighted!

  8. Guh. ross. Knickers? Seriously people? I think about what they say about the old man Tywin Lannister…

  9. Jenny Hansen says:

Oh, and I meant to say, “WOW, it’s the “Who’s who?”of SOO Publishing in this post! I love it!!!”

  10. Oh, dear. The slinky. And the music! That’s 3:20 of my life I’ll never get back. And I Don’t Care. Thanks for the smile, Ryne and Piper!

  11. Piper, thanks for the advice! I just checked, and my knickers are present and accounted for!

I’ve been reading posts about DFW for days now, and it sounds just wonderful. Maybe I can make it out next year.

And the slinky video is just what it says… EPIC. Although I’m wondering when the sequel will be released. I was sitting on the edge of my seat, wondering, “Will the slinky make it safely to the bottom? Will the slinky finally tire, and fall to his doom???” It was cruel to end with such a cliffhanger, don’t you think? LOL

  12. The Queen has gotta be rolling over in abhorrence! How terrible. And who cares? So odd.

It was SOOOO great meeting you Piper! Gonna miss you in NYC but hopefully we’ll see you again soon. Thanks for the mention 🙂

  13. Apropos the royal bloomers… Like Diane says – ew! And yeah…who cares?

In New Zealand, we call those items of clothing, generically, ‘gruts’. I have no idea what the origin of that is (and not sure I want to know, either…)

DFW Writers Con sounds great, what a wonderful opportunity to talk shop and meet people. I’m sort of jealous…We don’t have those in NZ – writing is cliquey and, as I discovered in regard to military history, viciously exclusive. My books in that field made me a war criminal as far as the local academics were concerned, summed up when one of them exploded with anger and swore on national radio, purely on mention of my name (the interviewer was taken aback – I have the recording).

When my self-same work was received at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, I got all sorts of recognition, including a nomination to become a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, which the Society accepted on merit of the same material.

    It’s a funny world.

  14. 18K? That’s disgusting in every respect. Great to hear more about theDFWCon and good fun to see everyone’s photos this week!

  15. […] out the DFWcon amazing-ness are Kristen Lamb and Piper Bayard, and trust me, these two ladies are completely […]
