Bayard & Holmes on a Mission

Holmes and I, appalled by the badminton players and the runner who attempted to throw their games at the Olympics, have gone to London to give those selective “competitors” some running lessons. We’re taking this fellow along with us.

Have a terrific rest of your week, and we’ll see you back here on Monday, August 13.

  1. A change in training strategies! Might work

Have a great rest of the week!

  3. The sad part was, the store owner got in trouble for that. Welcome to our messed-up justice system.

Holmes, you’re rubbing off on me. Not only did I write about C4 in my latest book, I mentioned it on my blog today, too. I prefer to think you’ve been a *good* influence…

    Have a good week!

Are you KIDDING me?? He got in trouble for defending his property and his life? Holy crap!

    • Dave says:

Seriously? He got in trouble for that? I like Canada, but that is completely screwed up.

      • He hasn’t actually been charged, unlike another store owner who did a similar thing back in 2009. In the 2009 case, the owner actually captured the robber, and was promptly charged with assault, forcible confinement, kidnapping, and carrying a dangerous weapon (a boxcutter). He was eventually acquitted, and a new bill was introduced back in February that will change the law if the bill passes… but it hasn’t yet. The 2009 case caused quite a backlash, so I guess they’re cutting this guy some slack (so far).

Hi Diane. I’m proud to know that you have accepted the joy of C-4 into your life. As the folks at DuPont are fond of saying “better living through chemistry.”

  4. Andrew says:

…okay, I laughed out loud when the guy started spanking the robber. Another absurdity in what is a very strange day so far (but not strange in a bad way…mostly for the odd things I keep coming across online, haha)

  5. LOVED the video and hell yes to the store owner for defending his hard earned living. It’s a shame because since it was in Canada, I know he’ll likely face assault charges. Much like the guy who chased vandals from his backyard with an unloaded riffled faced charges…for chasing THIEVES off his YARD?!?! Good ol’ Canadian laws….HAHAHA….
    Have a FAB week!!!

Hi Natalie. Perhaps you Canadian folks might wish to consider including a few MPs when spanking, kicking, chasing and otherwise corralling the local bad guys. Like many of our political hacks they seem to have forgotten for whom they work

  6. If you decide to run for office again, Piper, you could carry a can of bear spray to a debate.

  7. Jay Holmes says:

Hi David. She usually carries a snub nose.38 S&W, It’s not ideal for bears but will work fine on more dangerous predators.

  8. I may get a can. In fact, I might get a bear as well.

    Good laugh, Piper.

    Cheers!

Hi Nigel. Perhaps you could reintroduce a bit of your American acculturation into England by reintroducing bears to the London area. Londoners always seem a bit bored to me and I’m sure that a few bears would help them to get over that post industrial “downward spiral” feeling that pervades the city of London these days.

By the way, congratulations to your relations in the UK for doing so well in the Olympics. I haven’t run the numbers but on a per capita basis it seems like the UK has more than it’s share of medalists in these Olympics.

  9. Bear spray and a spanking – perfect! I would have been right in there like the wife was too! We’ve got to do something about those ridiculous laws up here that protect the villains. When you guys are finished in London, could you mosey up here and set a few people straight in Ottawa? Thanks!

Hi Patricia. In general Canadians are amongst the most patient and deliberate people on the planet. When Canadians get tired of having their basic human rights managed and controlled by a bunch of self aggrandizing nit wits in Ottawa the change will be sudden but deliberate.

One of the basic components of any political gang is “more power for us, less power for you.” What separates democracies from the rest of the world’s politically abused people is the ability and willingness of the citizens to make changes.
